Happy Holidays!  This week we have been discussing perspective taking and leadership skills! 

WOW!  We have had a really busy couple of weeks.  We have learned and practiced so many great skills in class!  We have focused on "Friendships" and "Reading Between the Lines (or making inferences)".  This week we are discussing being respectful of others.  

On Monday and Wednesday we continued our discussion about working together and cooperative learning!  We also wrote and illustrated our 2nd chapter to our cooperative story.  On Tuesday, we discussed personal space.  On Thursday, we worked on missing assignments and made plans for the end of the quarter (next week!).   On Friday we played cooperative games and worked on missing assignments!

It was a nice, but short week this week!  On Monday, we discussed what it means to collaborate and work together as a group.  On Tuesday, we drew a collaborative drawing which told a story through pictures!  It was really creative and fun!  Today we played a collaborative game!  Have a great MEA Weekend!

Hi!  On Monday, we worked on missing assignments and how to study for tests and quizzes.  On Tuesday, we had a great discussion about being a good listener and watched a couple funny videos about practicing good listening!  On Wednesday, we continued our discussion about giving and receiving compliments and played "Compliment Battleship"!  We won each time!  On Thursday, we discussed making friends and worked on missing assignments to get ready for the long weekend.

Happy Friday!!

On Monday we began our week with an AWESOME assembly by Dream, Dare and Do!  This was an assembly to promote positive choices and following your dreams despite any obstacle you might encounter!  On Tuesday we worked on full-body listening and non-verbal cues by giving directions to each other with only our gestures and then our eyes.  On Wednesday we discussed how to give and receive compliments.  On Thursday we created our own BINGO cards with feeling faces.  We discussed how a humans face can illustrate a person's feelings.  We discussed feeling words (anxious, mad, sad, exhausted, happy, etc) and drew our version of these expressions on our BINGO cards.   On Friday we played Feeling Faces Bingo and checked for missing assignments and planned for any upcoming tests and/or quizzes.

Upcoming reminder: there is no school for students on Friday, October 11, 2013! 

Greetings!  We had a great week last week and we really learned and practiced some great skills!!  On Monday, we played a game called, "The Socially Thinking Game" and checked our SchoolView account to prepare for the week ahead. On Tuesday, we discussed "Expected vs. Unexpected Behaviors" in school and how they differ from behaviors we might use at home.  On Wednesday, we discussed "Big Problems vs. Little Problems".  On Thursday, my second period dropped but my other periods worked on missing assignments and preparing for tests and quizzes. On Friday, we had check-out and had time to play Monopoly!  Highview hosted the "Back to School Blast" after school on Friday and it was a huge success!  Hope your child enjoyed the activities!  Another great week at Highview! 

Hawk Pride!

Hi!  I hope many of you were able to come on Tuesday night to visit Highview! It was nice to meet those of you who could come!  This week we discussed "Following Directions" and played a competitive game of "Simon Says".  We are learning how to access our e-mail and monitor our assignments and classwork through our SchoolView  account.  We also continued our discussion about integrity.  It was another great week!

What a great week!  Our class has been spending time learning about PRIDE. On Monday we discussed being prepared and organized for our classes.  On Tuesday we discussed what "bugs us" and how to demonstrate appropriate behavior in the lunchroom.  On Wednesday we discussed what integrity means and on Thursday we discussed being diligent and dependable.  Today (Friday) we will put forth our best effort to end the week strongly and come back organized and prepared for another great week!  Have a GREAT weekend and I look forward to meeting parents on Tuesday at our Back to School Night!

Hi and Welcome Back!  I am so excited to begin a new year at HIGHVIEW!  GO HAWKS!!!!
